Welcome to our MIGRATE TO AUSTRALIA Web Site

You've started to think about migrating to another country. You're considering Australia as a possible destination and you have started to do some research. We assume you've been to the web site of the Australian Department of Immigration (DIAC), www.immi.gov.au This link takes you to the DIAC site. If you haven't yet had a look at it, you should definitely do so soon - but be prepared to be overwhelmed (and perhaps confused)!, which has all the information you could possibly want or need: of all the sites you could visit, this official government site is the most comprehensive, the most exhaustive and the most up-to-date.

Why are you still looking?

We think the reason may be because the Department of Immigration site contains a lot of information you DON'T want or need.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

If you are currently in Australia and hope to get Permanent Residence, because you have studied or are studying at a Higher Education institution here,
you need very special advice.

We have created a separate set of pages specifically for youYou are special because you may be uniquely eligible for one of Australia's ONSHORE VISAS: click for details.
There are nearly 150 types of Australian visa, some of which are straight forward, like the Visitor visa. Migration visas, however, are definitely not straight forward: working out which migration visa is the right one for you requires a great deal of research and careful analysis and comparison, while submitting a migration visa application requires advance planning, thorough preparation and very serious attention to detail. All of this is comprehensively explained on the DIAC site, but ....

Looking for sound and comprehensible advice?

Perhaps you're hoping that someone somewhere has found a way to simplify the huge mass of complicated and often confusing information you have seen about migrating to Australia? Well, you've come to the right place: our aim in creating this website has been to present up-to-date information about migration to Australia in such a way that you don't need a PhD to get a reliable answer to what is probably your most urgent question -

Are you eligible to migrate to Australia?

as well as a comprehensive and intelligible answer to the next question you are likely to ask - if you find that your ARE eligible:

How long will it take me to get a visa?

Just follow the prompts

Working out eligibility has always been pretty complicated and changes to the Migration Program introduced in July 2010 have made it even more difficultNot to mention the added difficulties faced by people visiting migration web sites other than DIAC's that have been unable to keep up-to-date with the changes that are constantly being made by the Australian government. - but we'll help you get very close to a clear answer to this question. We will take you step by step through a series of questions which are going to reveal how good your chances are for a successful migration visa application and what options are available to you. All you have to do is follow the prompts

The prompts are all in red..

Click on the above two links to get started. Or select the topics you are interested in from our menu. You'll find that we've written things up in a way that is more personal and more accessible than you may find elsewhere, though information about all of these topics can be found not only on the DIAC site, but on most Australian and international migration sites as well (where some of it may not be entirely up-to-dateHere is a quick way to check if a migration web site is up-to-date: do a search on "MODL" or on "Critical Skills List" - if a site gives you the details without any warnings, it's not up-to-date., however!).

Whatever you do - with us at AMES, with DIAC or with another Migration AgentBut please make sure that the agent you deal with is registered with the Migration Agents Registration Authority: if you don't, you risk getting some very unpleasant surprises!, we wish you good luck and success in your search and the realisation of your hopes!
